The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra traces its roots to 1894 and has been known by that name since 1976, after serving as the Ottawa Civic Symphony from 1965. Early concerts were held in a local high school auditorium before the orchestra moved to the National Arts Centre in 1974. It runs community programs including Ice Cream Adventures, the Senécal Prize and the RE-JOYce web series.
