Opera Unbound

Opera Unbound is a Vancouver-based independent opera company that develops and presents new work in collaboration with artists from other disciplines. It was co-founded by singer and producer Taryn Plater and baritone Matthew Kim, both University of British Columbia-trained, and its music director is pianist and vocal coach Perri Lo. Its projects have ranged from house concerts and workshops to full productions, including Floating Island, created in 2024 with the dance company Belle Spirale and composer Kara Gibbs, and works in development such as The Fox and U-29. It has also presented excerpts through Re:Naissance Opera's IndieFest and the Or Festival.
