Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra
About this organization
Founded in 2001, the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra was one of the first professional orchestras in the world devoted to performing new intercultural music. The ensemble integrates Western instruments with those from Chinese, Persian, Vietnamese, and other non-Western traditions, and has commissioned over 100 new Canadian works since its founding. Under the artistic leadership of founding Music Director Moshe Denburg, VICO creates a distinctive sonic world that reflects the multicultural reality of contemporary Vancouver.
