Octet Victoria

Founded in 2022 by artistic director Char Hodgkins, Octet Victoria is a fully professional vocal ensemble of eight singers based in Victoria, BC. The mixed-voice lineup gives the group considerable repertoire flexibility, and its programs span the Renaissance through motets of J.S. Bach and Brahms to contemporary Canadian composers including Ruth Watson Henderson, Stephanie Martin, and Nathaniel Dett. For larger works the ensemble has expanded to a sixteen-voice conducted format, as in its Howells Requiem program. Octet Victoria is self-funded rather than a registered charity, and directs a portion of the door donations from its own concerts to local Indigenous organizations.
