About this organization

Founded in 1997 by Norman Nelson, the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra is a community orchestra of over 60 members from across Greater Victoria, presenting five concerts per season plus the beloved free outdoor Philharmonic Fling! each summer. The SPO includes the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus, directed by Nicholas Fairbank, and sponsors the annual Jenny & Norman Nelson Concerto Competition for Young Musicians. It is the artistic heart of the Sooke community and a unique cultural voice for the western communities of greater Victoria.
