Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM)

The Victoria Conservatory of Music is a charitable organization founded in 1964, though the name has been in use since the 1880s, when it was one of very few female-owned businesses in Canada. Its main downtown facility at 900 Johnson Street dates from 1891. Alongside music education and a Centre for Music Therapy, the Conservatory operates two performance spaces — the 785-seat Alix Goolden Performance Hall and the smaller Robin & Winifred Wood Recital Hall — which host both its own presentations and concerts by visiting presenters.
