Program Summary
The second night of Vancouver New Music's Open Frequencies festival is given to Korean cellist and composer Okkyung Lee, whose solo playing draws on noise, free improvisation, jazz and Korean traditional and popular music through an arsenal of extended techniques. JUNO and Western Canadian Music Award-winning violinist, violist and composer Meredith Bates of Salt Spring Island opens the evening.
