Elektra

Elektra was formed in Vancouver in 1987 by Morna Edmundson and Diane Loomer, C.M. (1940-2012). Loomer became Conductor Emerita in 2009 when Edmundson was appointed Artistic Director; Edmundson retired in 2024 after a 38-year tenure, and the 2025/26 season marked the debut of Cassie Luftspring as Artistic Director. In 2024 the ensemble adopted a gender-neutral framing, describing itself as a choir for women and other adult treble voices, and numbers about 45 volunteer singers. It took first place in the Equal Voices - Women category of the National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs in 2010 and 2017.
